As a Napa Valley Cabernet, Edict Reserve matched some of the best that we have tasted from the region. Thrilled that we were able to get several bottles for future tasting. Check out our overall thoughts on the wine!
Visual: The wine is deeply purplish; clear but too dark to see through, and rich maroon in color moving towards the rim. Slowly moving, slightly tinted legs indicated the wine is on the higher side for alcohol content.
Nose: This wine was aromatic in nature, and we assessed that there was some age to the bottle. The main notes we observed when nosing the wine were dark fruit, raspberry, vanilla, and cocoa. There was almost an allspice note and slight hints of must or asphalt.
Taste: We determined the wine to be dry and full-bodied in nature, with a fresh acidity noted. Medium round tannins definitely help to provide the good balance noted in each sip. It’s a flavorful choice with notes of warm spice, red fruit, and vanilla. The long finish kept the enjoyment going!
- Easy to drink with just enough complexity to dress up a meal or drink on its own
